The biggest challenge on this project was the access to a mid-terrace property. With no way of removing all the spoils from the basement other than tracking it through the house, a new escape route was built first to allow the house to be kept clean throughout the build.

Project Details

A new light well was dug to allow access to the basement for the team, and to provide emergency escape for the finished conversion. Then the brick shelves could be removed, floor taken down and a new concrete floor cast with a sump to collect all the water that came into the basement.

The walls, floor and ceiling were lined with a cavity drainage membrane, all linked to the sump and pumping station. The basement was then converted with insulation, plasterboard and plaster, with a new radiator and full electrical fit out
